Antalya's flagship public university in Konyaaltı — 64,000 students, a world-renowned transplant hospital and the award-winning Olbia campus, 25 minutes from AYT.
Akdeniz University was founded on 20 July 1982 and grew into one of Türkiye's largest public universities. Its main campus spreads across roughly 3.7 million square metres on Dumlupınar Boulevard in Konyaaltı, framed by the Beydağları mountains and just inland from the Mediterranean. More than 64,000 students study across some two dozen faculties, from Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy to Engineering, Law, Fine Arts and Tourism. The campus is best known for Akdeniz University Hospital, a 1,267-bed tertiary centre that performed the world's first deceased-donor uterus transplant in 2011. The Aga Khan Award-winning Olbia Social Centre, a 600-seat library and broad green avenues round out one of Antalya's most complete academic environments.
