Turkish inflation has shifted how foreign currency works on the ground. Here is what every Antalya visitor should know in 2026.
Cards work almost everywhere
Contactless terminals are universal — hotels, restaurants, taxis, even small kiosks. Visa and Mastercard accepted; Amex narrower. Almost no surcharge for foreign cards.
Cash is still useful
€50-100 in mixed EUR notes is enough for most week-long stays — tips, small markets, the occasional cash-only restaurant.
Best currency to bring
EUR by a margin — accepted everywhere foreign, the most-traded second currency. USD second. GBP works but at slightly worse rates.
TRY at the airport
AYT exchange counters give about 2-3% worse rates than city banks but the convenience is worth it for the first €50 you change.
What we accept on board
EUR, USD, GBP, TRY in cash; Visa/Mastercard via the in-car terminal; bank transfer for corporate bookings. No deposit on confirmation — payment after the ride.
